Terminology & Tools

Let's go over terms that we may use when it relates to working behind the scenes.

Computer Terms

Bare Metal / Dedicated Server: Simply means a computer, that is located inside a building with lots of computers.
Virtual Private Server (VPS) / Virtual Dedicated Server (VDS): A virtual machine that provides virtualized server resources on a bare metal (thanks google!)

Applications / Tools

Remote Desktop: Is a tool we use to remote into a windows based server, if you are on a windows computer it is preinstalled. But if you have a mac, you can install it from the app store.

1Password: Is a service we use to save our passwords and share as a team.

Todoist: Is a service we use to create todo lists, and view upcoming bills.

N8N: Is a service we use to update different tasks such as, #🏫〡wiki inside the staff discord.

PHPMyAdmin: A web interface allowing us to manage the "cloud" aka MySQL.

• When you login and click on lyhmecommunity that is called a database.
• When you click on the + to the left of the database each one of those such as, kits, kits_categories and so forth represent a table.
